if all of the raindrops were lemon-drops and gum-drops,
oh, what a rain it would be.

yupyup. i'm finally in the mood to blog abt my italy trip!
mmm, so we left campus at 9am on thurs...and i travelled for 24hrs to get to london...took the tube to victoria station to meet my sis and then roamed arnd london for the whole o saturday afternoon till abt 11pm, when we headed to Luton airport and spent the night there like a bunch o homeless kids...coz our flight was at 7am. it was sooOoooo cold that day...we went on the london eye, to trafalgar square, to see the buckingham palace and big ben...and for chinese food -grin- haha.
then it was off to rome! =) the hostel there was absolutely disgusting! it was this dingy little crammed room...but well, all we did there was sleep so it wasnt too bad. missed pearson alot during the first few days..ok, maybe not the whole of pearson, but....yes. my nice clean room, my roomies, leticiaaa, tatenda, sara! oh well. rome was really pretty, but terribly touristy and crowded as well. saw lots of renaissance paintings and sculptures, ohh, and we visited vatican city as well. the weather was brilliant for those 3 days. and going arnd rome at night is brilliant =) just feels so comfortable and lively! [although i suspect that everyone out at night were tourists] oooh, and we met joanna and adee there! we were just wandering throuhg the ruins of an ancient city when i saw someone familiar...but i thought 'no way...i cant possibly meet anyone i know here in rome...' but my sister confirmed that it was her so we went to say hi =) such a small little world! ahh...she made me realize how much i miss my rg-rj track days... my friend's wallet got picked on the metro! we were travelling on it at peak hour...and it was crazily crammed...full body contact with everyone arnd you...and suddenly he realized that his wallet was gone! so that was rome.
and we took the eurostar to florence. the trip was amazing! the view was absolutely breathtaking...coz we passed through all the seaside towns...ahhh...if i visit italy again, i think i'll go to one o those towns. and florence is gorgeous! =) visited the pretty palace there...the ducal family had really pretty daughters, unfortunately they all died before the age of 20. haha, our hostel was this place that used to be a convent...and it was rather freakyy..it was the typical scene for ghost stories! with hospital beds and dimly lit long narrow hallways...and the light in the bathroom at the end o the corridor was flickering! -shudders-
next stop - milan! we stayed in a hotel here. small but cosy room~ so that was nice. we were searching for a place to eat when we passed by this chinese restaurant! =) yupp... and there was no one in the restaurant, and we looked like poor students...so they took pity on us and gave us free dessert and gave us a discount though we didnt ask for one. did i mention that they have service charge and seat charges per person at all the restaurants, unless they specify otherwise on their menu? that was rather frustrating. haha. yupp, milan was real nice...we went shopping and visited all the furniture showrooms -swooons- haha. i love how they blend past and present architecture, past and present ways of life.
last stop - venice! hahah..we spent 3 nights here. fortunately the hotel was brilliant. ate lots and lots of gelato and sandwiches. i was an absolute gelato addict! we walked SOOo much in venice. coz there really isnt any other option. you just have to walk across the island to get to places...or take the vaporetto of course, but that just serves the perimeter of the island... rather frustrating. esp since Christmas eve was EXTREMELY cold. cold beyond words! haha, yupp, we watched a really nice jazz concert =) though i thought it'd be nicer as an instrumental concert... and had lots o chinese food. Christmas in venice was peaceful...no hustle and bustle, feasting or presents. just peaceful and a time for reflection. =) we met joanna here again! =) we were also on the same flight back to london and she invited us to stay with them at their friend's place in london for the night. we were veryvery grateful...coz otherwise we'd have been roaming london at 3am looking for a hostel that would take us in! =) it was nice to talk to rg trackers again. =)
it's so nice how the italians bring their dogs everywhere they go. and the dogs are all really well behaved, you can see how much the dogs adore their owners...they just keep looking up at their owner's face as they walk alongside. =) and i got terribly accustomed to saying "ciao" and "grazie" every other minute...
yupp, and now i'm finally in sheffield. resting. =) we're going to watch narnia today! yayys. i just wish it'd snow rather than rain...rain just makes everything sloppy and messy.
ooh yess...the snowman we made! that my mum thought looked awful and angular. haha:
